GOP Liberty Caucus Backs Mike Yost for Congress

Limited Government Group Lauds Candidate’s Ideals

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Mike Yost, candidate for U.S. Representative in the 3rd District, today announced he received the backing of the GOP Liberty Caucus.  A state chapter of the national organization, members support small government ideals.

“Candidates endorsed by the RLC share our commitment to the ideals of individual rights, limited government, and free enterprise,” said Kristi Dunn, Executive Director of RLC Florida chapter.  “When considering the three primary candidates running in the 3rd District, the choice was clear: Mike Yost.”

“I am thrilled to receive the endorsement of the GOP Liberty Caucus,” said Mike Yost.  “If I have the honor and privilege to serve the good people of Florida come November, reducing the size of government will be priority number one.  The time is now for Washington insiders to put personal interests aside and do what’s right for the people.  We need to grow the economy, not the government.”

Yost Vows Never to “Hang Up” on Constituents, No Matter the Issue
Calls Brown’s Blame Game: Tactics of a Washington Insider

Jacksonville, FL – Mike Yost, candidate for U.S. Representative in the 3rd District, today denounced Democratic Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s childish approach to ending a recent radio show discussion she had on First Coast Connect with host Melissa Ross.

“After living and working in Florida for the past four years, I remain dazed and confused as to Rep. Brown’s approach to constituent service. From her lavish stays nationwide at five-star hotels like the Ritz-Carlton, to her refusal to answer basic questions from reporters, I think voters in the 3rd District deserve better.

As Congressman, I pledge not only to maintain connection with voters using traditional ways, but to also make the most of social media tools such as Tele-Town Halls, Facebook, and Twitter. If you are too busy for constituents because you are gallivanting coast to coast spending thousands of donor dollars and you refuse to answer basic questions on local radio, you’re in Washington for one reason, and one reason only: your own well-being. The time is now for voters to learn after 18-years of lackluster service, it’s not Corrine Brown’s seat, it’s the people’s seat.”

A few dismissive words, but still no campaign from Brown

….Republican candidate Mike Yost has come out against Brown’s bill, saying it’s a “knee-jerk reaction” and that drilling is necessary in an effort to reduce dependence on foreign oil. He would like to see safeguards before drilling resumes, though.

Mike Opposes Rep. Corrine Brown “Oil Drilling Ban” Legislation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Friday May 14th, 2010

CONTACT : Diane Leone (904) 598-4567 or email press@yostforcongress.com

Today, Rep. Corrine Brown introduced legislation that would ban all off-shore drilling and exploration for oil. Her ban would:

“permanently prohibit the conduct of offshore drilling on the outer Continental Shelf of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico.”

Mike would like to remind Rep. Brown that the Department of Energy was created for the sole purpose of “Eliminating the Dependence of Foreign Oil” in the United States. In spite of the fact that is its purpose, it has obviously FAILED miserably in its objective.

Yes, we have a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, but to have this type of knee-jerk reaction to this disaster is far from what is needed to achieve the goals of the Department of Energy.

Mike believes in 3 basic goals that must be achieved and drilling resumed:

  1. Determine the cause of this disaster and make sure that proper safeguards and controls are in place to assure that it will not happen again.
  2. Clean up this disaster using all available private and public resources to do so.
  3. Open other areas of this nation like the Bakken Reserves in N. Dakota and Montana for drilling.

Rep. Brown seems to forget that until there is available alternative energy sources that can fully meet the demands of this nations energy needs, oil will remain a needed resource for our nations survival. Even her “precious” rail transportation system she wishes to spend even MORE of taxpayers dollars on and continue to subsidize with even MORE taxpayers dollars, requires DIESEL FUEL to operate. Rep. Brown, THAT is an “oil based” product and to restrict the supply of DOMESTIC oil is going to be even MORE costly for Americans.

Instead of more legislation that will cost the people of this District even more in energy dollars, Rep. Brown would be better off working to create JOBS for the people and bring OPPORTUNITY to this District. Taking train rides to Miami to bring even more “high speed rail” to areas OUTSIDE this District is not making “Corrine Delivers” a truthful statement.

Over 25 conservative candidates running for the United States House of Representatives have united together to form the Conservative Freshmen Coalition (CFC). The coalition was formed in response to the growing grassroots movement among conservative voters across the country.  These conservatives hold to a belief that real change is possible by placing more power in the hands of the people and less power in the hands of the government.  These conservative candidates have pledged to uphold five basic principles:  Supporting the Constitution as it is written; supporting an amendment to the Constitution to pass a federally balanced budget; advocating for lower taxes for small businesses; introducing legislation that would amend the Constitution requiring term limits for all members of Congress; and an immigration reform package which opposes amnesty for any current or future illegal immigrants.

The two founding members of the CFC include Matt Lockett, running in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, and Lee Bias, running in West Virginia’s 3rd Congressional District.  Lockett and Bias created the CFC as a compass and a united group of reliable, responsible, and reformative members of a unified conservative bloc upon entering the United States House of Representatives.  Since the inception of the CFC, the following candidates from across the country have pledged to uphold the CFC’s five basic principles including:  Matt Lockett (KY-6); Lee Bias (WV-3); Stephanie Bell (AL-2); Mark Spinks (AZ-5); Glenn Gallas (AR-4); Pete Stiglich (CA-2); Paul Smith (CA-5); Ronny Santana (CA-14); Don Barich (CA-15) Serafin Quintanar (CA-20); Michael Yost (FL-3); Thomas Castellano (FL-11); Michael Frisbee (GA-13); Dan Benishek (MI-1); Bill Marcy (MS-1); John Carter (NC-1);

Scott Keadle (NC-10); Doc Gillenwater (NC-12); Chuck Flume (NV-1); Jaynee Germond (OR-4); Rex Rice (SC-3); Don Strong (TN-4); Donn Janes (TN-8); Jim McKelvey (VA-5); Dan Mielke (WI-7); and Cindy Hall (WV-1).  The goal of the CFC is to unite fifty to one hundred conservative candidates as the coalition builds national momentum.
