Last night as I watched the vote in the House on the Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade bill, it wasn’t hard to understand that our nations Congress has become one where listening to the people of this nation no longer matters. It is going to be, as it has been for decades, just shove legislation down the throats of the PEOPLE without any regard for what the constituents are saying to the Representatives.

Eight Republicans voted “Yea” for this measure and need to be ousted. More importantly, the Leadership of the House Republicans needs to be brought into question as well. One must ask where were they in offering the facts regarding the phone calls, the faxes, and letters that totally overwhelmed the House switchboard yesterday as Americans voiced their displeasure with the possible passage of this bill? Where was Congressman Stearns in voicing his disapproval of this legislation? Why didn’t he address the full House session and demand a delay of the vote as another 300 pages of the Bill magically appeared that had not been read nor discussed in any detail?

The only hope from this point on this bill is that the Senate will take the time to defeat this bill in it’s present form, rather than attempt to amend it in order to gain passage. With the number of votes the Democrats have, any amended version of this bill from the Senate is also likely to gain passage and ultimately become law.

America lost last night and stands the chance of losing even further unless this senseless Bill is defeated totally, never to see the light of day again. Consider the impact on every single citizen of this nation:

• Energy costs will soar. It has been estimated that this will account for an additional $2500-3000 annually per household in additional energy costs. This includes heating, cooling, gas prices, etc.
• All prices for basic necessities like food, medicines, clothing, etc. will rise as well due to the increased costs of manufacturing and transporting these goods.
• It is estimated that jobs will be lost that will amount to between 1,000,000- 1,500,000 beginning in 2012 when the Act would take effect, especially in manufacturing. More jobs will be shipped to China and other overseas nations.
• There is no alternative energy sources that are capable of providing a reliable energy source for this nation that will be cheap nor abundant.
• The overall reductions in CO2 emissions will be negligible, and none of it will make any difference in “climate change” that is non-existent to begin with OR is being caused by any man-made mechanism. The empirical evidence is showing a period of cooling, not warming is beginning.
• Companies like General Electric stand to make billions from the “market trading” of cap and trade credits. See this article for more details that I discovered months ago and encouraged the defeat in Committee at the time.
• Special Interest groups managed to gain enough votes to ensure passage of this Bill in the House and will continue to do so for all legislation unless principled, core value Conservatives are elected to office who refuse to “play the game” and actually represent YOU, the American citizen.

In a nutshell, America will become the next third world nation, will have lost another million jobs, and will paying the price for something that does not exist we like to call “Global Warming”.

This is NOT an “Energy Bill”, but I call it as I see it- The largest Tax Increase that will be passed to YOU in the form of higher Energy costs, higher prices for necessities and all goods, and a job killer that will put more and more people under the direct control of government.

As your Congressman, I will work to Repeal this Act in it’s entirety should it become law. To continue to follow this path of destruction of the American people is not what our nation’s government is supposed to do. I will work to make sure that nothing like this ever again will come before Congress. It appears that the idea of “Promote the Common Welfare” of this nation has become “Promote All of Us ON TO Welfare” and dependent on government for our very needs and existence.

Additionally, I will work to remove the Government barriers on our own energy supplies of Oil, Coal, and Natural Gas that are in abundance in this nation, but our Government refuses to allow private industry to explore and use.

Unless you are willing to support those of us who will work FOR America and all Americans, and will work to remove the obstacles to Economic growth in this nation, we are going to have entire industries under direct government control in a short while. Many tell me this is one of the greatest fears they have for this nation as we have already seen the Financial sector and Automobile sector that is directly owned by the United States government. I will work to stop this madness and to preserve the Constitutional Liberty afforded every citizen, business, and industry of this nation.

It is time to change the faces of the “career politician” and put working people with COMMON SENSE in government who will represent YOU, not the special interest groups who managed to get this piece of legislation passed in the House.
