As the health care debate rages in Washington, it has become painfully obvious that Democrats refuse to look at public sector solutions. Driving the debate is the creation of a Government solution to the issue, when all research on the reason we even have a “health care crisis” is government solutions.

In the late 60′s, when the Medicare debate was occuring, the promises and cost estimates seemed innocent enough. Medical costs were only a small portion of GDP and affordability from a taxpayer’s perspective was “not too bad”. The arguement was that Government could provide health care for our Seniors, at affordable costs, and funding by taxpayers would not be prohibitive. The fallicy in the argument was the Government was NOT in the health care equation in the first place and no estimates were available for payments from government to health care providers. Nor was cost over-runs possible as assumptions made at the time turned out to be unrealistic.

Our current system is facing bankruptcy in less than 7 years on the Medicare side. Medicaid already is cost prohibitive to the States and Federal government. The Administration, and the Congressional bills, will exponentially drive the costs to taxpayers up and reduce the benefit payments to medical care providers as the “government solution” to health care reform. Neither option is acceptable. Government ONLY has 2 solutions available- Reduce benefit payments or increase taxes. There is also the option of a combination of both.

Then we discover that the public option is not going to be available as alternatives IF you drop your group health coverage, the Medicare recipients will suffer, and Medicaid will swell the roles to provide coverage to more and more currently not eligible.

Cost shifting by health care providers will increase, the private option costs will escalate, and then the Democrats will get what they want- a SOCIALIZE Health Care system. Employers will unload their private/group plans in favor of paying the penalties for NOT providing group plans OR those who continue, will find the costs prohibitive as more and more unload the group plans. The unemployment levels will also increase as again, profits of our small businesses and industries will decline under the proposals, forcing more layoffs to cover costs without increases in productivity within these businesses.

This debacle will be the nail in the coffin for America as we know it. Taxes will very likey approach the levels of Canada- 57% for the middle-class wage earner. Health care options will dramatically change as wait times for care will increase as the system becomes overloaded more so than it is now. Payments to providers will decline and fewer will enter the medical field simply due to losing money providing care or treatments.

I would encourage Congress to carefully observe that when private sector solutions are allowed to work, without government interference, then our free market system works as it has for centuries. ONLY when government “meddles” do we have issues.

It leads one to believe that it’s not about reducing costs, but more of seizure of total control of our people, the power grab for generations to come, and nothing left of America as we know it. I encourage you to take action now and stop this abomination from ever becoming the law of the land. Otherwise, your country as you know it, is forever changed and NOT for the betterment of you or future generations.
