After viewing the 4th in a series of investigative reports by two of America’s real journalists, there can be no doubt that there is a pattern of facilitating criminal activity within ACORN that can no longer be ignored or blamed on bad employees.
I am calling for Congress to bring a full investigation of ACORN’s top level board members and to do so immediately. The outrage exposed in this video can not be “rogue employees” as ACORN employees in every office where video was made indicates corruption at the highest levels.
Furthermore, I am calling for the Justice Department to fully perform a forensic audit of ACORN’s books from the top down, closure of their offices until such investigation can be completed, and suspending any licenses they have to operate.
I am calling for the IRS to suspend ACORN’s 501(c)(3) status until such time that a full tax audit at a forensic level can be performed to account for U.S. Taxpayers dollars expenditures by every entity covered under the ACORN umbrella.
I am calling for the House of Representatives to Pass HR 3288 as amended by Senator Johann and passed in the Senate, that fully de-funds ACORN’s housing unit by our government.
I am also asking Congress to introduce legislation to revoke any and all Federal Tax dollars for any branch or division of ACORN to be suspended until such time a full investigation is completed. In the event any criminal charges are brought against any ACORN employee, board member, founder, or organizer of ACORN, then ACORN will be banned from ever receiving Federal Funding for any division. Furthermore, any organizations that former ACORN board members, employees, or organizers become employed with, become involved with, or become board members, etc. will ALSO be revoked Federal Funding as long as former ACORN members are involved.
I am calling for every State’s Attorney General in which ACORN operates to also investigate ACORN for any State funding they may receive and to provide that information publicly. Furthermore, every State legislature must consider legislation that also de-funds ACORN in it’s entirety.
ACORN must be fully investigated, de-funded from any State, Local, or Federal funding, and prosecutions made of those involved in this alleged corruption and facilitation of criminal activity.

ACORN itself is a 501(c)(4) political (lobbying) organization.
Note: You are correct in that in one sense. ACORN has a political arm that is indeed a 501(c)(4) organization. However, the vast majority of the ACORN groups, and there are nearly 75 of them, or more, are under 501(c)(3) regulations. For example the ACORN Housing division is a 501(c)(3) organization and they operate independently in the states from the main ACORN organization. This makes the spiderweb of ACORN as an entire BODY needing investigation, not just one branch. We as taxpayers DESERVE to know what money has been diverted, moved, shifted or otherwise given to the 501(c)(4) political arm which WOULD be totally illegal for a 501(c)(3) group to do.
Do you have any proof that ACORN has been diverting money from 501(c)(3) designated local chapters that would necessitate an investigation? How much would this potential investigation cost taxpayers? Would it be more than the amount that ACORN chapters receive from HUD? If one 501(c)(3) organization has been shown to be misallocating HUD funds, would you be for refusing funding for all local chapters? What are your positions on HUD in general?
One final question: if these 501(c)(3) groups are diverting money, how are they funding themselves? Do you think ACORN proper is laundering their money, so to speak? If so, what purpose does this serve? What is ACORN getting out of it?

First, to answer your questions, I have no proof ACORN is diverting money, however, I see evidence with these videos that ACORN has possibly violated the legalities of using Federal money to encourage a “pimp and prostitute” to commit illegal activities and to advise them accordingly on how to set up an operation that skirts/breaks several laws regarding tax evasion, violation of the Mann Act, using false information to defraud for a mortgage, and bringing in illegals for the purpose of underage prostitution.
The cost of such an investigation would be hard to determine at this point, however, I can assure you that the $54 million ACORN has received, and the $8 BILLION they are eligible to receive under the Stimulus bill is far more than ANY investigation would cost. Additionally, if ACORN is found to be as corrupt as many believe, they are subject to all assets being seized under the RICO act and those investigation costs could be offset by sale of their assets under RICO.
Third, ACORN, according to their limited tax returns, are both financed with government funding as well as private contributions. As far as are they laundering money, any investigation, especially a forensic investigation of their books, would reveal any such activity. The purpose of an investigation is to once and for all allow the taxpayers of this nation to have total transparency of the many facets of ACORN, good or bad, and reveal what they have done with taxpayers dollars allocated to them.
My call for investigation is to determine once and for all every single point you make- are they laundering money, are they using taxpayers dollars properly, are they diverting money illegally into the ACORN Political arm? These are questions that, due to the LIMITED IRS and other filings they make, are not answerable UNTIL there is investigations. Additionally, much of ACORN funding has come in the form of Community Development Block Grants awarded to the states and then passed on to ACORN and others. For a list, you can visit here:
