Mike and Debra

First, I want to thank you personally for taking a moment from your life and reading about me.

As you probably already know, I am Michael “Mike” Yost and I live in Jacksonville, Florida with my new bride, the former Debra Youmans. She and I have been together for 4 years now. I am currently employed at Garber Ford-Mercury in Green Cove Springs, Fl. as a Service Team Leader,  and on a leave of absence to run for Congress.

I was born and raised in Southwest Virginia in a small town called Bluefield. It has been referred to as the Nation’s Air Conditioned City as the summer high so seldom reaches 90 degrees, that when it does, the Chamber of Commerce serves lemonade on the streets! I attended Bluefield State College after my high school graduation pursuing a degree in Biology and Chemistry. I was “raised” in my Grandfathers Auto Dealership and begin cutting grass, cleaning parts, and doing all those “dirty” things you do to start in the business. You might say, I have the motor oil and transmission fluid in my veins, as I do love what I do. Much of my beliefs came from my parents and grandparents, and I have learned as time passes, just how much wisdom they had to impart to my generation. Each passing day proves just how “right” they were all along.

I owned my own successful business and understand paying suppliers, making payroll, paying taxes, and what it means to comply with the mounds of regulations facing our businesses today. I literally was forced out of business by increased taxes and regulations simply because it wasn’t economically possible to go into debt to pay for those changes.

Right now I find myself in fear of the direction this nation is heading and felt I must take action to change the path our country is going down. Those valuable changes are things I can pass to my grandchildren, and unless I do, then I will have failed miserably by simply complaining about the outcomes. You too, most likely share those same fears and wish to pass this nation in far better shape to those who will live after we are gone.

Many of you may wonder why someone who is totally unknown, decided to run for the U.S. House of Representatives? I would call that a very fair question and one I believe deserves an answer. I have been politically involved for many years and it began when I was in my early teens. I began campaigning for Representative Bill Wampler in the Virginia U.S. House race when he ran in the Va. 9th District. Ever since those days, I was hooked on Federal politics. Much of what I see as issues with this nation actually originate from the Federal level and I believe I can use the same common sense you and I use to solve our own financial problems, and end much of the economic issues facing this nation. I also believe I can effectively bring about the needed changes to our tax system, our Social Security system, and our health care system in ways that no longer offers those non-working political solutions but instead bring common sense idea that work.

Much of our government today is a direct result of what I call “the best government Special Interest money can buy”. That is what is sad about this nation and the for the voters. We EXPECT better from our elected officials, but we get government that isn’t representative of your desires. You can have the greatest message, the absolute perfect solution, and the largest voice in the crowd to get the attention of others, but unless you can TELL others, that is an exercise in futility. Without the support, you never will make the cut with your message and your ideas. I hope that you too, believe as I do and that unless WE THE PEOPLE take back this nation with our support  for the candidates we share those common sense values with, our government isn’t effectively going to be any different than it is now.

Isn’t it sad, that the same people are elected over and over, simply because they have more access to more money? I have the message, the solutions, and the voice needed to get things done in Washington. With your help and support, I will bring about the GOAL of smaller government, real reductions in government spending, a fair tax system that will work for ALL people, and a reduction in this nations debt.

Thomas Jefferson once quoted that “when the people fear government, you have tyranny. When the government fears the PEOPLE, you have liberty”. I am tired of “fearing” our government and I think you are too. We, together, can stand up and make a real change in Washington and bring back our Constitutional government our founders envisioned.

I am NOT just another one of those “people” who wants to be the NEXT Congressman from the Florida 3rd District. I desire to be YOUR representative; not for the power, money, influence, or fame. I want to make a REAL effort to make REAL changes that brings back that feeling that we DO NOT have to fear our nations government. I desire a better future for our children and grandchildren where they understand the sacrifices you and I made to assure their ability to have their visions fulfilled without government dictating the paths they will take.

I ask for your vote, your support, and most importantly, that you desire someone who has those Conservative core values and beliefs that I believe you and I share passionately.

Hello, I have lived in Gainesville for 19 years of my life. I am an Eagle Scout working for the summer out at Camp Shands, the Boy Scout Camp outside of Melrose. I saw a campaign tent near the grocery store in Melrose; unfortunately I did not see anyone at the tent at the time or I would of stopped by and introduced myself. I thought it would be fun for me to introduce myself to you and let you know that there was another Mike Yost out there and that I appreciated what you are trying to do.
