The last two days of independent investigation into the activities of ACORN has revealed that there is obviously more than “rogue employees” involved. With the release of two separate videos on BigGovernment.com by videographer James O’Keefe and college student Hannah Giles posing as a “pimp and prostitute” seeking mortgage assistance, it is suggestive that there is far deeper roots than just 4 ACORN employees. In both cases, ACORN employees suggested that these two people lie, form a business to conduct criminal activity, and defraud the government with tax forms. In both cases, they offered to assist in the paperwork, for a “fee”. It doesn’t seem to be coincidental that in both offices, nearly identical information was given by the ACORN employees.

Congressional Republicans should be calling immediately for investigations, the IRS and Justice Department needs to become involved, and all Federal funding for ACORN should be suspended pending results of these investigations.  Furthermore, ACORN’s 501 (c) 3 status should be suspended by the IRS until a full forensic audit of ACORN’s books is fully completed.

Based on these videos, filmed at the Baltimore and Washington offices of ACORN, there is appearances that there has been instruction to ACORN employees to not only engage in this activity involving fraud, making false statements, and aiding and abetting criminal activity, but to encourage it. ACORN denies any involvement and instead, claims it is nothing more than an attempt on the part of FOX News to engage in smearing of ACORN’s name. In ACORN’s response to the release of these videos, they had the following to say:

“ It is clear and not coincidence that FOX continues to attack and divide our nation along racial lines.  We believe our country is beyond this type of attack and call on all Americans to demand that FOX stop its racist coverage.”

There was no racism involved in either of these videos and neither Ms. Giles or Mr. O’Keefe are employees of Fox News to the best of my knowledge. The fact that Fox News has taken the lead in this expose’ is further enlightenment that the rest of our nations new/press/media outlets refuse to cover this story.

UPDATE:

Today, Sept. 11, 2010, ACORN has been notified by the U.S. Census Bureau that they will not be a part of the 2010 census.

Thankfully, we may actually get a real, honest census that will result in fair redistricting efforts after the census. States need to also remove ACORN from any and all voter registration efforts as well.

We as a nation should not be funding ACORN with tax dollars. Every single impropriety they commit indicates they are not being above board in their activities. There is indication in several states they have people working for them that engaged in voter fraud and here in Florida, 11 ACORN employees have been arrested and charged with voter fraud in the 2008 election. In every single instance, ACORN’s response has been “rogue employees” commit these acts, however these videos indicate that a full investigation of ACORN must be made.

Congressional Democrats, so far, have been quite on this issue. Should they deny any requests for investigation by Congressional Republicans, the American people need to display our outrage. We deserve the facts and the truth regarding ACORN once and for all.
