In 2008 the under 30 group of young people placed their faith in the “Hope and Change” message. Overwhelmingly they came out, voted and over 60% cast votes for Barrack Obama.

Now, there is going to be a very high price to pay for that effort. With the passage of Obama/PelosiCare, the choices of America’s youth just disappeared. No longer are they going to be able to decide if a cellphone is more important than health care. No longer will that new I-pod be something on the list of future purchases. No longer will that new house be in the near future, but something that is a distant dream you “might” get when you hit 40 or 50.

The cost of the government health care plan just passed by the House is enormous. Our young adults will be taxed, fined, and even jailed to the point where the reality of what just happened because of their votes in 2008 will be like a ton of bricks they carry for the rest of their life. Those who seek to better their future with college, start their own business, or even finding a decent paying job will find the market non-existent for their talents and little opportunity for attaining their youthful dreams. The tax burdens alone for government health care is going to be frightening.

Sadly, the utopia they envisioned from a packaging of “Hope and Change” will be revealed in their reduced paychecks, the $8 an hour jobs, and the delay of buying their own home. Hanging prison time over their heads will only force them into submission to the government. I doubt they are going to like or accept the reality that utopia is only a thought of sugar plums dancing in ones head.

The ones who are going to pay the most will be those who many Democrats refer to as America’s “Disadvantaged Youth”. When faced with High School graduation, little chance of getting a college degree, and being forced to accept menial jobs that seldom pay the bills, these added taxes and fines because they have no health insurance coverages will strike a blow so deep that “disadvantaged” is going to mean another layer of poverty. That is a reality few are envisioning now as they are going to be forced to pay for the health care needs of our aging population over the next 20 years. To a young person, that seems like an eternity, but the facts are that the “boomers” are going to be 65 very soon and the bulk of those will be entering at the time when their health care needs are at their greatest and the youth looked to as the payment vehicle. This layer of our youth will be enslaved to the “system” and with far worse implications than you have been led to believe.

Those young people who do manage to achieve will be the ones footing the entire bill in 5-10 years. Want to make over $250,000 a year? You will be taxed to the point where “Hope and Change” will mean “I hope I have a little change left” after the paycheck arrives.  That is IF you are one of the lucky ones who actually finds a decent paying job or takes the ever increasingly risky chance of starting your own small business.

There is a high price to pay for personal “security”. It comes in the form of higher taxes, fewer opportunities, and a reduced standard of living for all people. Any person who wants government to place a floor under their feet will find a ceiling over their head. As the floor expands, the ceiling gets lower. Our youth are being asked to support that ever growing ceiling as well and that load will all too soon collapse under it’s own weight.

Our nation’s youth will awaken from their sleep. Their desire for a better America will come from their realization that to trade Liberty for security means you deserve neither as was spoken by Benjamin Franklin centuries ago. The admonitions of our Founders applies just as aptly today as it did then. I encourage our young adults to become enlightened and aware of what “Hope and Change” really means. After all, it only took repackaging utopia to fool you once.

Will it fool you once again?

Mike believes that a smaller, less intrusive government will allow our young people to have the same opportunities Americans once enjoyed. He believes that the future of our nation lies in our young people and that the burdens of government shouldn’t be shackled to their energy and desire for advancement. Mike wants to see our young people become the next generation of successful, ambitious, and the greatest creators of prosperity for America, not the ones paying for the waste and growth of government. Now, more than at any point in American history, the basic tenets of Freedom and Liberty are being taken away from us by this Liberal Congress.  The passage last night of “Pelosi-Care” means you will no longer be able to determine your own choices for your health care needs. Rep. Corrine Brown once again disregarded the majority of the voices of the American people and voted “Yea” for this bill.

Under this plan, if you choose to not purchase health insurance, you will be fined 2.5% of your income. Refuse to pay the fine, and you will get a $250,000 fine and could get up to 5 years in the Penitentiary for making a free will choice.

If you are a small business, you will be forced to either provide health insurance for your employees, or you will be fined up to 8% of your payroll. That applies to many of you that have your own small business and are simply trying to survive. Needless to say, many small businesses are going to either close or start laying off more people to cover these costs.

If you are on Medicare, your Medicare Advantage options will be cut and you will be forced onto the regular Medicare plans. AARP supported this simply because they stand to make a windfall in new Medigap Insurance sales since they are not part of the Medicare Advantage plans.

The AMA supported this as well since separate legislation closed the “Doc Gap” in Medicare reimbursements at the cost of $200 billion in YOUR tax dollars. Without that happening, further cuts in Medicare payments could/would force many physicians to simply deny care to our Seniors under Medicare.http://yostforcongress.com/blog/wp-admin/post-new.php

An estimated 18 million will be forced into Medicaid. This will further add to the States financial burdens and needless to say, YOUR taxes will increase to cover the millions of people forced into this substandard level of coverages. This especially hits the poor, the under-employed, and unemployed. There will definitely be 2 distinct classes of people who are insured- those with plans and those with Medicaid. It also provides for Illegal Aliens to be afforded benefits under this plan.

The government also dictates the types of coverages being offered, removes the ability of insurance companies to deny coverages because of pre-existing conditions, and limits contributions to an HSA to $2500. Subsidies up to $10,500 per family will be available for coverage purchases. The overall costs is estimated at over $1.3 TRILLION in spending, further adding to the DEBT of this nation.

The increases in taxes is going to result in the largest tax increase in history. It is estimated that over the next 10 years, another $700 BILLION in new taxes for this plan are added. That translates into an additional $6500 per taxpayer. This massive redistribution of YOUR income is a blatant disregard for economic growth and for your pocketbook.

Now, more then ever, it is vital you become involved in electing people who can turn back this legislation. Mike promises that, when elected, he will fight to repeal this bill should it become law. He believes in the free market approach with reforms that will work. This includes real tort reforms, allowing purchases of insurance across state lines, and allowing employers to form cooperatives to allow the volume purchases for more employees. His plan will not force you into doing something you don’t choose to do and keeps your Constitutional freedoms and liberties intact.

Now, more than ever, Mike needs your help. Unless he can get elected, nothing will change and the Liberals will continue to take our nation in a direction that leads to less freedom, fewer choices, and an economic destruction that will make the Great Depression pale in comparison.

Volunteer, donate, and support Mike and bring honest, Conservative principles and values to America. With your help, “Let’s Take it Back”…in 2010 can become a reality.

With the release of today’s jobs report, another 263,000 jobs were lost by Americans nationwide. The report does not mention the numbers who have given up on finding a job nor the number of workers who have opted for early retirement due to the bleak jobs outlook for the future.

Instead we get the same tired Democratic rhetoric about how fantastically wonderful this near trillion dollar “stimulus” spending and debt has worked. Michael “Mike” Yost, Conservative candidate for the 3rd Congressional District of Florida commented:

“The American workers aren’t interested in cheap words, they want JOBS! The inability of this Administration and the Democrat controlled Congress to understand that Depression era fiscal policy didn’t work then and won’t work now is astounding. The Great Depression didn’t end until a world war forced the U.S. factories to gear up for military production and to start hiring people. When people had money to spend from the JOBS created, the Depression ended.”

Yost went on to further add:

“With a weakening dollar, government debt approaching $12 Trillion, and more debt being piled on the American taxpayer, one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand that the problem is too much government. The next step in this entire economic mess is inflation and that will further weaken our ability to recover. Results of this Administration’s and Congressional policy are dismal and until they realize the necessity to cut the size and scope of government, our businesses and industries are going to continue the collapse they are experiencing.”

The current Representative, Corrine Brown, seems to think that the problem is in Tallahassee and that the “stimulus” funds haven’t been released. It is painfully obvious that Ms. Brown has no clue what happened to the funds and where they are being spent. Even more painfully obvious is that no amount of government spending and the resulting debt is going to make the economic situation any better for our small businesses and industries. They are being looked upon as nothing more than a source of revenue for government and their destruction is inevitable as profits continue to decline. No one can hire when your outgo is greater than your income and these are simple facts any 1st semester high school economics student could understand.

Support Mike Yost as he brings bold initiatives forward to bring about real tax reform and real government spending reductions that will revive our economy and bring American jobs back to anyone who wants one. Our people are desiring the Liberty to be self-sufficient and responsible for their own families and adding more government spending and the need for more in taxes is not going to solve our issues.

Support Mike in his efforts to bring the REAL change to Washington with accountability to “We the People” of the United States. It’s time to end the waste, corruption, and spending that has caused this crisis and bring real leadership to the 3rd Congressional District of Florida.
