ObamaCare Fallout Just Beginning- Job Losses to Grow

In a moment of “I told you so”, the reality of ObamaCare is already showing the true fallout from this legislation:

More American Jobs Lost.

Needless to say, Rep. Corrine Brown’s claim of “People need health care” was nothing more than cover for the sham and scam this legislation truly is. AT&T, Caterpillar, John Deere, and countless others are announcing millions/billions of dollars of new taxes and the prospect of countless millions of workers losing their jobs over the need to trim back payrolls to avoid the taxes and reduce the losses under ObamaCare. Even the Medical Equipment manufacturers are looking to take their factories overseas and the Chinese will once again be the victors of ObamaCare as more Americans lose their jobs.

So where is the Health Care Rep. Brown promised? It is non-existent as most things Rep. Brown has promised to the people of this District. Those benefits of this bill have a four year wait to even begin to happen. The taxes and fees begin immediately.

But the simple fact is, if you have no job and no prospects for a job, health care is the farthest thing from ones mind. To most people, keeping a roof over their heads, food on the table, and the utilities turned on have far more importance when you are no longer employed.

The other day, I met a man who had been out of work for nearly 18 months as a construction worker. He would spend the early morning waiting at the day-labor pool hoping for a job to come along that needed his particular talent. That day, it didn’t happen so he visited the local Plasma Center to donate plasma, receive a small sum of cash that he was using to eat with. His day consisted of trying to find work, having enough money to most likely eat his only meal (breakfast, because it is the cheapest meal of the day), and to sleep in his truck at night. He was angry and rightfully so. He only wanted a JOB. The rest he could handle once the JOB was in place. THAT is the American Spirit Rep. Brown doesn’t understand.

To Rep. Brown, this is just too bad. No, she would rather tell us how we need health care and NOT spend time understanding the needs of the people who live and raise their families in the District. I doubt health care has much meaning to this unemployed construction worker, but having a full time job that allows him to put a roof over his head and food in his stomach would mean far more that a health insurance policy.

My question for Rep. Corrine Brown is simple- Will the IRS agents visit him simply because he didn’t purchase health care and he is forced to pay the fines?

I think Rep. Brown is so out of touch it really doesn’t matter to her.  She has promised the people of this District the MOON, and can’t even deliver a MOON PIE.

It is time the people of this District have real Representation that understands the needs of this District and the people who live here. I bring the plan to create the JOBS people really want, OPPORTUNITY people want their children and grandchildren to have, and the FREEDOM from an over-reaching government that is destroying the very basic foundation of America.

It is time for Liberty and Freedom to work once again as our Founders envisioned and end this corrupt, Big Money Special Interest influence on Washington to give our nation back to WE THE PEOPLE with common sense, Conservative government.

Yost Comments on State of the Union Address

After listening to the President’s State of the Union Address I have come but to one conclusion- our President has little regard for individual liberties and views “big government” as the solution for issues our nation is facing. His inability to recognize that his massive expansion of government has not fixed a single thing and the voice of the American people don’t have his ear.

His desire to pass Health Care “reform” in which the people overwhelmingly have said “WE the People” don’t want your Plan, indicates he hasn’t taken the time to listen to both sides. Yet, he want’s unity from Congress in this matter and views the opposition as somehow a personal attack on him personally. It is not a personal issue Mr. President, but is the American people’s voice that isn’t being heard and I will stand up for them long before I stand up for your agenda that is laden with “behind closed doors deals”.

You, Mr. President, were hired by “WE the People”, not the special interest groups, the union bosses, and lobbyists. You convinced the American people that a $787 BILLION Stimulus bill would keep unemployment below 8%, yet no jobs are being created, people are losing their homes, and the banks and Wall Streeter’s are standing on solid and profitable ground.

Small businesses are under attack as you press for Cap and Trade, Health Care, and “Card Check”. As I listen to these business owners, they feel threatened by your agenda and will most likely not survive your onslaught of taxes and fees. Yet, you offer the smoke and mirrors that “capital gains tax reductions” and “hiring credits” which in reality, will not create jobs. “Capital gains” don’t happen in a small business, but it’s capital investment in people, in expansion of inventories, and increased business activity they need. Investment in those areas make business succeed and are never subject to any “capital gains taxes”, but are what fuel the economic engine of our nation and result in those PROFITS you want to tax even more. We are not stupid Mr. President as you pandered the those who have never owned a business and won’t understand either, when they lose their source of family income when their employer closes his doors.

Good speeches don’t pay the bills of the ordinary American, jobs do. Cap and Trade, Health Care, and bank bailouts don’t put food on the table, jobs do. More regulations and higher taxes on our Small Businesses, and the threats of even more, don’t cause economic growth, and won’t create new JOBS, Mr. President.

Making college tuition loans part of a Government sounds all nice and fuzzy and having payback in 20 years has a nice ring to it, but making Public Service a condition of a 10 year payoff tells me that more expansion of GOVERNMENT is on the table for this Administration. Mr. President, the PEOPLE want LESS government, and and end to the deficits and your plans will produce another $1.9 TRILLION this year alone. Sooner or later, Mr. President, no nation will want our Debt instruments (bonds), as they aren’t so sure that your agenda will bring back the needed economic growth to pay back that debt.

It is time for Fiscal responsibility from our government and that means accepting the fact we are spending far too much, not taking the steps to cut the size and scope of government, and to offer a “spending freeze” that isn’t really a “freeze” on the areas where government needs massive overhaul. THAT, Mr. President is nothing more than pandering to the American people and is simply more “smoke and mirrors” that the American people are tired of. You promised to cut spending,  not increase it 25% so you could simply freeze a mere $20 billion.

You want to create more exports from our nation, yet, what did you put on the table that would bring more manufacturing from American shores? Those jobs are gone to where Mr. President? Let me give you that answer- China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India. You can’t export things you aren’t making, so those cargo ships that come into Jacksonville’s Port, simple return with the ONLY thing we seem to be exporting- AIR.

I’m sorry Mr. President, but your agenda falls well short of the desires of WE the PEOPLE. Excuses and “blame Bush” will no longer cut it for your failures and inability to listen to what the American people are telling you. No longer will promises of transparency, no lobbyists, and no back room deals for the cronies be acceptable as every single promise you ran on have been broken. We are a Representative Republic Mr. President, not a nation that you “RULE”, but one you GOVERN. You can’t govern unless you listen and you have lost the trust of those who hired you. Our government has 3 distinct branches Mr. President, and your chastising the Supreme Court indicates that you feel all 3 are there for you pleasure, and you don’t understand their roles are to protect us from the very tyrannical “RULE” you wish to impose.

Like any CEO will tell you, without the results you promised, the stockholders want a new direction. Let’s make sure we bring that new direction that works to our nation in 2010 and put our nation back in the hands of WE THE PEOPLE. Let’s not be lulled to sleep by a great speech, but compare the words to the actions and the actions have fallen far short.

America’s Youth and the Price They Will Pay for Obama/PelosiCare

In 2008 the under 30 group of young people placed their faith in the “Hope and Change” message. Overwhelmingly they came out, voted and over 60% cast votes for Barrack Obama.

Now, there is going to be a very high price to pay for that effort. With the passage of Obama/PelosiCare, the choices of America’s youth just disappeared. No longer are they going to be able to decide if a cellphone is more important than health care. No longer will that new I-pod be something on the list of future purchases. No longer will that new house be in the near future, but something that is a distant dream you “might” get when you hit 40 or 50.

The cost of the government health care plan just passed by the House is enormous. Our young adults will be taxed, fined, and even jailed to the point where the reality of what just happened because of their votes in 2008 will be like a ton of bricks they carry for the rest of their life. Those who seek to better their future with college, start their own business, or even finding a decent paying job will find the market non-existent for their talents and little opportunity for attaining their youthful dreams. The tax burdens alone for government health care is going to be frightening.

Sadly, the utopia they envisioned from a packaging of “Hope and Change” will be revealed in their reduced paychecks, the $8 an hour jobs, and the delay of buying their own home. Hanging prison time over their heads will only force them into submission to the government. I doubt they are going to like or accept the reality that utopia is only a thought of sugar plums dancing in ones head.

The ones who are going to pay the most will be those who many Democrats refer to as America’s “Disadvantaged Youth”. When faced with High School graduation, little chance of getting a college degree, and being forced to accept menial jobs that seldom pay the bills, these added taxes and fines because they have no health insurance coverages will strike a blow so deep that “disadvantaged” is going to mean another layer of poverty. That is a reality few are envisioning now as they are going to be forced to pay for the health care needs of our aging population over the next 20 years. To a young person, that seems like an eternity, but the facts are that the “boomers” are going to be 65 very soon and the bulk of those will be entering at the time when their health care needs are at their greatest and the youth looked to as the payment vehicle. This layer of our youth will be enslaved to the “system” and with far worse implications than you have been led to believe.

Those young people who do manage to achieve will be the ones footing the entire bill in 5-10 years. Want to make over $250,000 a year? You will be taxed to the point where “Hope and Change” will mean “I hope I have a little change left” after the paycheck arrives.  That is IF you are one of the lucky ones who actually finds a decent paying job or takes the ever increasingly risky chance of starting your own small business.

There is a high price to pay for personal “security”. It comes in the form of higher taxes, fewer opportunities, and a reduced standard of living for all people. Any person who wants government to place a floor under their feet will find a ceiling over their head. As the floor expands, the ceiling gets lower. Our youth are being asked to support that ever growing ceiling as well and that load will all too soon collapse under it’s own weight.

Our nation’s youth will awaken from their sleep. Their desire for a better America will come from their realization that to trade Liberty for security means you deserve neither as was spoken by Benjamin Franklin centuries ago. The admonitions of our Founders applies just as aptly today as it did then. I encourage our young adults to become enlightened and aware of what “Hope and Change” really means. After all, it only took repackaging utopia to fool you once.

Will it fool you once again?

Mike believes that a smaller, less intrusive government will allow our young people to have the same opportunities Americans once enjoyed. He believes that the future of our nation lies in our young people and that the burdens of government shouldn’t be shackled to their energy and desire for advancement. Mike wants to see our young people become the next generation of successful, ambitious, and the greatest creators of prosperity for America, not the ones paying for the waste and growth of government.
